Ipanema Stones was found in 1995 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and started its activities as an exporter of granite and ornamental stones to the USA. All along the years we have consolidated our position as traders with several countries for the export and import of slabs and tiles of a large variety of stones. In the year 2000, investments were made in cutting and polishing machinery and Ipanema Stones initiated the export of finished products such as kitchen and bathroom counter tops, tables and special flooring, which aggregated value to our export profits.

Ipanema Stones holds a joint venture in the USA and its sales force has been devoted to the hotel industry a nd commercial projects, which allowed the company to export 250,000 square feet/ year in average for the last three years. Furthermore, this arrangement enables us to support our foreign clients in any technical, logistic and customs clearance issues.

Training and valorization of its workforce by means of "social remuneration" to the operation staff has been a major topic to achieve high productivity. We have a team for the administration, technology, control of foreign specifications and designers in order to assist our clients' projects.

We are strategically located near the significant slab producers in the State of Rio de Janeiro and next to Cachoeiro de Itapemirim in the State of Espírito Santo, which is the source of the greatest quarries and largest Brazilian business district for ornamental stones. Moreover, Ipanema Stones is less than 10 miles away from Rio de Janeiro's harbor and counts with weekly shipments to harbors all over the world.

Ipanema Stones has been involved, since the year 2000, in developments of major construction companies such as Brascan, Gafisa, Wrobel and Crater, among others, besides supplying imported marble for personalized projects of renowned architects.
